Many thanks to Bob for the 2 by 1 hour experience flights to prepare me for a Spitfire flight from Cumbernauld. Flight was over the Southern highlands out to Corrievreckan including a rapid descent and close look at a frigate in the Clyde and a look at a "puffer" at the Crinan canal. The return was via a bealach between 2 hills and also had a rainbow surrounding the the trailing edge of the port wing south of Ben Lomond. We finished off with several aeros over the airfield. I had control for 15/20 minutes!!! Fantastic!!!

I want to agree with what most other people have written on here, I had a 1 hour experience flight and the time flew over, The weather was perfect and we flew out toward the lakes, headed towards Workington then along the coast before refuelling at Kirkbride Then a short hop over Carlisle, then landing back at Carlisle airport. I am not surprised how people get hooked on flying because it was amazing. Bob who took me up is very reassuring and very funny! Funds permitting I would love to do it again. and I want to thank Carlisle Flight training for helping me tick off one more thing off my bucket list.

We, that is self wife and 12 year old grandaughter, really enjoyed the experience. We had a 1 hr. flight which covered the North Lakes and Carlisle. I was able to fly the aircraft and didn't scare the family! All in all something that we will repeat and recommend to others. Excellent.

Flew from Kirkbride due to the ongoing works at Carlisle Airport, really enjoyed the flight and conversations with Bob, absolute top man, could have done with spending more time on the mission, remembered all the questions I meant to ask during the flight afterwards and should have asked Bob more questions about himself too. Just a few words of appreciation to say how much I enjoyed my flight last Saturday. We were so lucky to get such a nice day for it considering the weather on Sunday. The family enjoyed the day out as well, and the photos were on Facebook by the evening! I have found out a lot more about G-CHER on the web and loads of photos. I must say it was a lot more comfortable than a draughty old Tiger Moth from my cadet days. I have recommended the experience to some of my friends, so you may be getting some repeat bookings. My thanks to all at Carlisle Flight Training for an excellent day especially when I discovered my daughter Kate could fly with me. I was very lucky to pick a day with good weather which made my flight most enjoyable. A special thank you to Bob Stringer, my instructor, who immediately put me at ease with words I wont forget, "Ive got the pedals and throttle, the rest is up to you", that made my day! Thank god he didnt repeat these words for landing as the wind had increased a bit. I have a feeling that I will be back in the not too distant future! Fantastic, again, many thanks.

Impressive First Flight Experience

Received a Trial Flight as a 40th Birthday Gift. This is something I have always wanted to do and I am pleased to say I can now tick it off my Bucket list. Excellent Service from all at Carlisle Flight Training School, I was made to feel very welcome from the outset and safety, I am pleased to say... was there number 1 priority throughout.... I have to admit, the thought of flying a small aircraft made me a little apprehensive, however after learning of the Safety Aspects etc.. All I experienced was FUN !! I was also surprised by how much hands on experience of the controls I actually did - and this was only my Trial - possibly - First of many lessons ! Add to this the excellent views over the Solway Firth with views of South West Scotland, The western Lake District and the borders of Northumberland and Scotland..... What was actually 30 minutes, felt like about 5...I never knew it would be so much fun ! :) All in all an excellent experience and highly recommended to do at least once in your lifetime. I chose Carlisle because I have flown in and out of Newcastle loads of times and never Carlisle......Not to mention, the scenery is FAB ! :) Ironically, the first time I fly in and out of here I end up flying the plane.... Magnificent. Highly recommended for all.. I may even partake in a future flight some time soon to see a bit more of the Solway Coastline and if I do, it will have to be with Carlisle Flight Training... Thank you to all staff for today's experience. :)

Thank you for a wonderfully instructive half hour which went a lot quicker than I thought it would. My lesson was fun and I learnt a lot about the basics of flying a plane. My wife would never have let me take off and fly, but I am glad she bought it for my 60th Birthday. I would recommend it to anybody.

Yesterday’s Fantastic Flight

Had a great flight on G-BPIK, taking off from runway 07 in glorious sunshine. With Bob's expert help, soon got the hang of level flight and turns. Enjoyed a smooth landing on 25. The hardest thing was keeping on the yellow line on the taxiway! Great present from my brother, who learnt to fly at Carlisle 30 years ago.

I was fortunate enough to learn to fly from Carlisle Aero Club as it was known back then in the late 1960s. As a young ATC Cadet I won an RAF scolarship to train for what was known then as a Student Pilots Licence, and whilst there did the extra hours and exams to get my PPL under the instruction of Captain Moore (the Mad Milkman) and Captain Barklay (Ex WW2 Lancaster Bomber Pilot). A great place to learn unfettered by nearby Air Traffic Controls then (not sure about now) but I had some brilliant times and experiences whilst up there. I watched the movie of the circuit and it brought back many memories. I only wish I was young enough, near enough and wealthy enough to fly from there once more, before I get my own set of permanent wings. Good luck to all who fly from there. If you are training you couldn't be in a better place!!!

Trial Flight Sunday 13th July 2008

To all at Carlisle Flight Training This is a (very belated) Email to thank you all, on behalf of my mother, for the flight that she had on Sunday 13th July. This was a present for her 80th birthday and she thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience including being able to fly over her home in Dalbeattiie. The Pilot (Tom Vaughan, I think from memory) was exceptional. Whilst describing aspects of flying and about where we were flying over, he did it in an easy-going manner (involving conversations with both my mother & myself) rather than a pre-prepared commentary. My mother is still talking about the flight and has been recommending the experience to all and sundry. Once again thanks to all involved for for a great day!

Yesterdays Trial Flight

Hi, My Grandson and I were with you yesterday afternoon (Sat 28/06/08) for a 5pm flight in the Piper Warrior G-EJRS. Needless to say it was a brilliant experience that we will definitely repeat - last time I came I was on my own and that was an equally great experience. I would like to say that on both occasions I found the instructors superb with the ability to be there guiding you without being intrusive. Thanks for a great time yesterday!
